Sunday, November 10
12–2pm
2252 Richmond Avenue, 10314
Join the Native Plant Society of Staten Island and the Freshkills Park Alliance in planting an autumnal, native garden in the area between the Freshkills Park Alliance’s office and studio buildings! This volunteer project will assist in our beautification efforts and increase biodiversity as we prepare for a changing of the seasons. No experience necessary — tools and plants will be provided!
Location: We will meet at the FKO + Studio and Gallery located at 2252 Richmond Ave. Staten Island, NY 10314.
Parking is available in the parking lot at the corner of Draper Place and Travis Ave. adjacent to the FKO Building.
Plan Ahead: Be “tick aware” and wear long pants, close-toed shoes, and insect repellent. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Also wear a hat and bring water and a snack!
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves!
Accessibility: We will be working on level ground, accessible terrain.
Restrictions: You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program.
Students can receive credit for community service hours.
