See the growing number of native gardens across the island, and share your own!
Since 2024, the Native Plant Society of Staten Island has worked with volunteers to install two gardens. Both are open to the public, and we hope that you will visit and feel inspired to incorporate native plants into your own gardens.
In the summer of 2024, we planted the Virginia N. Sherry Memorial Garden, dedicated to the memory of our late founder.

This garden is located at 76 Franklin Avenue on the grounds of Christ Church New Brighton, a short walk from Virginia’s former home.
And over the spring and summer of 2025, with the support of the North Shore Rotary Club, we installed a native pollinator on the grounds of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

This is feature is new to our website for the fall of 2026! Do you have your own native plant garden that you’d like to see added to the map? Please fill out the form below. We will get in touch with you to set up a time for one of our board members to visit your garden. If your garden is sufficiently native and accessible, it will be added to the above map; if not, we will share tips with you on how to further nativize your garden.
