On Saturday morning, January 10, the Native Plant Society of Staten Island hosted a fun, informative and interactive workshop, where we learned all about seed collecting, separating, and winter sowing for a lush native spring garden.

Led by NPSSI board members Lenny Librizzi and Kevin Moriarty, the beautiful room at St. Mary’s Episcopal on Davis Avenue was filled with members old and new for a delightful couple of hours of learning, conversing and doing!

Everyone created their own winter sowing milk jugs, and seeded them with local native seeds many collected from the Virginia N. Sherry Memorial Garden.

Joanne Pentangelo is the Treasurer and Acting President of the Native Plant Society of Staten Island.
