Spring Native Plant Sale–A Huge Success!
Joanne Pentangelo

The rain held off, thank goodness, and it was a lovely day in the garden on Saturday, May 18, for our inaugural event of 2024!

Members and friends started lining up at 12:45 and the sale was on! With an amazing assortment of native plants—including flowers, shrubs, trees, ferns, and vines—and an enthusiastic and generous crowd, how could it not be a success?
So many of you renewed your memberships, or joined for the first time—thank you! With over 350 plants for sale, we sold out just about at close of day at 4 p.m.
Members and friends enjoyed meeting each other, talking native plants, learning from our experts, Kevin and Lenny, and planning new native additions to their gardens.

The NPSSI netted almost $1,700 in sales, which will go toward producing new programs and events going forward.

We were so happy to be able to offer the added bonus of an historic house tour and to raffle off an antique Victorian garden urn. Congratulations to Alexander Baltovski for winning the raffle, and many thanks to Michael Rambo with Brown Harris Stevens for donating the urn and opening up 73 Greenfield Avenue for our members.
Thank you for being members, for coming out and supporting our work, and for caring about our native birds and pollinators!

Joanne Pentangelo is the Treasurer and Acting President of the Native Plant Society of Staten Island.
